Search engine intelligence

In the blog before, I wrote that I would do another blog about search engines intelligence. At least, that was what I though about.

I think that most search engines, because I do not know all of them, do´nt perform real quality searches. In the results there is often pages, even among those listed on the top, that do not provide you with what you were looking for. I realize that It requires intelligence in regards of software technology to be able to do such a thing. But I think search engines will develop and I have thought that
even though most people think of Google, Yahoo and MSN as the market leading actors. Yes they are now, but I think that the market is quite open. Other actors would provide a service at least in niches to begin with and eventually the complexity of those search engines that are largest now, will follow.
Some of you remember Altavista, nowadays known by few below 20, and the very good search options that were available until 2000 something. You could include the standard logical parameters in a search but also search for words starting in a certain way like inter* . Today I am not aware of any search engine that provides that availability though I think it should be at least somewhere. If someone who reads know, please write a comment since I´m sure there are other readers who also want to know.

If you serach on Yahoo, Google or any other you see that the results look different.
Yahoo give a closer approach from the serched word or phrase also to the domain name in the results than what Google does. But since Google wants to provide as quality verified results as possible, sites that are not linked to, have lower ranking even though they may have very good domain names. One reason to stand by this is because there are many good domains thata are only "parked" and have no content in them other than a bunch of ad links. These pages lower the quality on the internet but since this domain parking market is so huge, google have accepted it in way of at least indexing most parked pages though you rarely of close to never see them among the first hundreds (or even thousands?!) of search replies. A few years ago, I often saw parked pages in the replies but maybe I didn´t use Google back then, not sure. But I don´t think that Yathoo either include the parked pages in the top of results or even below.

But maybe yahoo has some more search intelligence because domains with domain names close or same as the search word or phrase are more included. You think that if anyone did a page or website with the same name, that it may very well have some info about what you are looking for. But to lastly credit Google, in the results in Yahoo, I think there is a little more of garbage content sites among the top results. So I use both of them.

I haven´t used MSN that much in order to give a review but I will. Nor have I tried Ask or others.

What new portable technology will come in the future?

Some of you, older than 30, remember the Sony walkman and all the other "copies", the whole portable cassette industry. Everybody had one, well almost everybody. (where are they now?) And the size of them got down to the size of a cassette, which is very similar to the size of a video screen on all these PVP, portable media player and whatever names they have.

Anyway, what will be developed in 5, 10 or 20 years. In 100 years?!!! Who imagined portable video players 30 years ago? Close to noone. So I guess there will come new things. But no matter how hard I try to think of what that will be, I don´t see anything. Well of course, portable computers with the same or better performance than todays desktop or laptop computers. Just a little box with a screen and micro keyboard with external connections to bigger screen and keyboard.

That will probably come in 5 to 10 years I think. And then?

Speed and memory size will increase further so with that, even more larger and complex programs will come. And what will these programs do? Interactivity is one
key and demand in the software industry. People look for things and therfor I write about search engines in the next blog.

Fine Motor Skills

In the last days I have read and thought about motor skills, an area divided into two ares, fine motor skills, like playing with lego, and gross motor skills as jumping around with friends in the woods.

Fine motor development may seem of bigger interest but since it depends on the gross development there is an interest for both. The reason is because there are children here and there, more than we think of that may have difficulties, movement disorders or other learning disabilities. Therefore many parents seek advice since they care for their child.

These children need extra support, need to feel joy and support even though they are not (yet) so very skilled which they may become in some way or another. Some children with special gifts aren´t like all other children first so with love and support they may show later on, how things can change, and how much they really have to give. In a way that wasn´t obvious first.

And since most people go through the "normal" learning process, they have more learning potential. Do you remember the feeling of fascination and exploring as a child, to find out about thing, doing things. Why not doing some of that again?
You can, pich any interest you would like to explore and give a chance. If you do it, you will see you can do new things again, it will make you feel better!

I am trying to collect material to write about in this field so hopefully I can get back to it in a short time.

RCA Lyra mp3 player

I have taken a bigger look into some of these technical things that not all people buy, just a few.
I looked at mp3 players by RCA, or Thomson who owns the RCA name.
Earlier there have been several "Lyra" RCA players but on their site there are only two Lyra models which are the top models with video etc, where one of them was the one that came after the other so I don´t know why they still have the first one when there is a second that is better?

It seems as if these mp3 players with video aren´t that common and I wonder if they will be. Will everybody walk around with screen technologies in their pockets? One reason why it would not be so is because the required screen size has to be bigger than of a cell phone, which size has become smaller and smaller so we can expect them to be so small soon that they will disapper, hopefully :-)

Motivational Thoughts

Motivational thoughts, yes how good it sounds. But do you feel any motivation to think so?
I have learned (though have a lot more to do yet), and maybe you can and will to, that if you don´t feel the drive to think .. motivations, start to think that you want to be able to do it. That you will start to do it. I think all other tips etc that is meant to be right now don´t work in regards of immediate results. It takes time.
When you decide to start to want it, it makes you think about whether or not you really want that... what ever it is. Maybe you find out something else. Well then.. one step to another. I think also, it's not only, or maybe not at all about what you want to do, it's about letting your will come through. Because, if you don´t know what you want to do, that circumstance shouldn't stop from taking you further. It's ok not to know. Maybe noone else has given you any suggestion so youre self confidense have been or is too low. Then again, you need to get into wanting to know.

So, motivation is about wanting to knwo what you will do. Well, something like that.

The most important though, again, if you don´t feel the drive to think what you want to do, to think in motivational thoughts, you just have to start to think that you want to be able to do it. It will kind of, out itself as seeds in your mind, and only put there by you. Besides that, be gentle, be cool. To others, and you.

I´m sure someone, or infact many, will search that phrase. When this thread is indexed in the search engines it will show up for a few of them.

somebody help me - god help me ... i know some of you who finally read this put any of those phrase in the text field and googled away, or whatever search engine you used.

What help did you want? So, go on, write about it. This is interaction, internet at its best. You were, and are still looking for some help. Now you tell what help you need and I get back her. Of cource I will check back to this thread later on too, to see.

Besides, I am doing this long before you, who -now- when you read this is doing that a long time after I write now. So I act ahead in time. Acts of different times meet.

Video mp3 players

So what about that title? Well I won´t tell now. Not yet. You know what is don´t you? Good, because if you didn´t then I think you gotta be stu... No I have to be polite.

Many things are two, not three. Statistics are often two-parted. 20% of something is making 80% of total weight etc. But what is the difference between video and mp3, players? I get back to it some day.

Because I didn´t sleep anything this night. Why didn´t I? Because I had to do something. It had to do with looking for jobs.. hhmm ...

What am I going to do soon? I will rest and probably sleep when I get back home.
And when I sleep, I may dream.

You see, yesterday, I dreamt that someone said something to me, and there was a certain complexity of circumstance around it. It was like I heard the persons thought, it was not said in the dream.
Later yesterday, I get a mail from this person, telling she had thought the sentence that I dreamt, Thinking it "to" me, where she was. And it was a very very unusual thought. Doesn´t matter what it was, at least not now, gotta keep something shouldn´t I? It was more than the words and more than a feeling, however it has happened earlier other things, tracking in other.. hmm.. peoples' thoughts so to say. With as high true probability rate as can be imagined in regards of its occurrence.
Therefore, something, or several things are either strange, or they are remarkably
hidden. It really is, almost weird.

That was a long title. I have a bunch of those but I wonder why the response isn´t better. I think I have very good domain names, they are very basic, coreful and US-ish !

I have put a lot of time on several things but being businessman needs its time.

Well, there will more be more elections and based upon the domain industry today, domain names will be even more sought after as time goes by.

Thinking about domain names, coreful names can be eyecatching depending on the viewer. They can even be so known, that they are boring and almost so common so some people don´t react. But I think they do without knowing it, and some do it definitely more than others.
I believe that some people like what is old and conservative, common and known. They might react with less interest when they see something new. Some other people prefer new things. On the other hand, they might prefer new things all the time so they want something new, or they leave.

As a website maker there are loads of things to think about. If the domain name is very generic and known, which is good, you should make the titles of the index page at least the same as the domain name (among all the things to do). Actually yes, it gives some percentage better ranking and that people see the same thing that they look for even in the domain name. Textual congruence. And then, to complement, there has to be pages with content and words that look new, and interesting.

It does not strictly have to do with "SEO", search engine optimization though it should be since SEO is meant to be about user optimization if considered in the right way. But infact, SEO has been looken at too much as a technical concern. Wrong. Well there are some tricks that can be done but even those are for the purpose to improve the ranking because you want it to be so since you think you do a good job. If you are smarter with sense, you also think that your work deserve to be found as well right? So, even though a website can come up early among the results, it still depends on what the text says.

And to optimize among people, not just among results of a search engine, the content has to appeal, which is what seo is to be about but the technical ranking can actually be better than the reader ranking and with that I mean again, that even though a website may come up among the first result in a search, it may be so, that few people click on it, because there is something uninteresting or wrong with the text and, even though the search engine liked the page so much it gave it such a good ranking.

Did you follow everything? No problems, it's just about thing to learn, but in a good way!

An Inconvenient Truth have you all heard of. I bought it in a shortened book form to my son, he is 11. I read something in it about the ice on greenland and how it could melt just like big seas did in the north east america after the last ica age, or something. Then I read in another science magazine article about old ice samples taken from the north pole and around. They were so old, proving they hade not melted between the last ice ages, they had remained ice. There was a melt down the article said, but not all the way down and not that huge as some think it may be. Well, just to mention it I think Al Gore's book add up on the global warming science a little bit. People want to know more and different scientists in different or close field can cooperate more in order to get to reasonable facts. Industrialization is not a long story in the history of mankind, so what will happen later on. I may sound ordinary to say we all have to care and so on but actually that's what we have to do.

The blog didn't work. I couldn´t upload anything I wrote. I remembered that the web hosting provider I used changed the ftp directory name. Earlier it was ftp://... But now it is ftp://ftp. ... So I went in here to change in the publisher settings where the ftp etc data is set. And then.. yes it works. But, when i see the new files it says 2007-01-03, instead of 2008-01-03. But I guess it doesn't matter.

Very well, Yesterday I saw the snow for the first time. Winters are warmer, definately. Compared to "the winters in the childhood". And it snowed more by then.
Toda's winters are grey and dull.

Have you ever thought about this... snow is white and it reflects the color of the sky. If blue there is clear sunshine and it reflects the white colr, it lightens up.

And.. snow lowers car disturbant sound. Snow smoothes down the sound, ever thought about that. When the streets are wet instead, the cars make more noise.

Therefore, winters in south Sweden are boring. These years. Last winter, that was real and also overly "real" was 1978-79. It snowed up to more than one meter. Incredible. I miss it!

Let's hope the winters get colder :-) (proving Al Gore is wrong :-O !! Global warming ... no offense..)

Just testing the web hosting

This was originally just a testing thread. Sometimes you have to test things to see if what you write gets into the web hosting.

It can take some time to get it to work if you use own web hosting for the blog.
And each time a thead or comment is made, it takes a couple of seconds, more than how long it takes to load a page.

Also, it is just not as "ok" for men to talk about deep feelings with other men.
Especially if they feel hurt by a woman because they may feel as if the woman hasn´t been that polite to him, in order to admit that to another male. Men don´t want to talk bad about their women to other men, maybe.. unless the woman showed up to be nothing but a "bitch". But even then, depending on how long time it took to find that out, some keep it for them selves. As long as things don´t seem to repeat it may be ok to forget.

Left and right.

I don´t think I thought too much about the name of the domain, Two Thoughts, when I once picked it.
But it sounded good.

Lately, I began to think about how people work in regards to personality etc.
Women are more stabile in that they, generally, have a closer "co-operation" between the left and right hemisphere of the brain. The left brain is the more analytical and detailed one and the right is more visual and looking at the whole part of things as in intuition, if I choose as few words as possible. Contrary to women, men have a slightly more left-righ specialization. This is probably, and at least to a part a reason why men generally are regarded as being more potential to being violent.

Men are more dependant than woman. As many of you know, it seemes often to in that way, when a couple breaks up, the men can feel more lonely since they don´t have the same close network as women may have. Men have networks though not as close.

That goes into relations which I write about in a following page.

In a way, we can look at the different traits for left and right as two personalities who either support eachother or complement eachother.
And again, the little difference between women and men is about this too.
Women kind of co-operate a little closer with themselves more than men which is vice versa.

Me might look at it this way:

Woman.
Pros - If stable then always stable.
- Mental focus can be put more directly since it is already in co-operation.
Cons - If not stable then more prone to stay unstable, since none of the hemispheres can support the other very much since they are more equal.

Man
Pros - If both left and right are stable then the sum will make up very good though with more respective dependacy.
- If maybe only one side is less prominent, one side may back up the other one.
- If less stable on any side , the chance is higher that at least one side can become more stable then to support the other one.
Cons - If not stable on one or both sides at all it can be more difficult to regain a focus ability since the co-operative ability has to be performed.

Isn´t it at least somewhat true? I think so.

But not for all. Some women are more "split up" than some men and vice versa.
And people can be either more feeling or thinking, less are both.

How are you? I think I am a bit of both. I am analytical, yet oversensitive sometimes. I do "get" inspiration somrtimes without verbal thinking, it just comes.
So I guess I´m both.

So, I thought this blog should mainly about general thoughts and so on, but I think several interests will come up.

It´s a funny little thing that some car owners have in order to keep a check on the engine/fuel performance.

Hello,
and welcome to my new blog. I have never written any blog earlier but I have written a lot in forums and so on.

According to the title above I´m sure you can find out that I am interested in music and yes I am. I have som things to show that I have been part of and I will present some of it later on. And yes, as mp3 in a good quality, not any crap 128k!

People do different things on the internet and downloading music is one of several popular things. Therefore, I think I will get back to that subject a couple of times.

I think I round off for the moment to see what it looks like!
